Default Wheel and tire combos

I thought it might be interesting to see what you guys have on your carts and how well it works. Show us what ya got!

There's probably a calc that can be done instead but I'm gonna do a real world experiment to find out what 26x10-12 Mudlites on the back of my Marathon work like with my clone and clutch setup ..as soon as I find a pair of 4 lug 12" plain steel wheels that is. I have 22x11-8 Sahara Classics for the front. The Mudlite tread is very aggressive but that's ok. My concern is actually the tire height. Hopefully they won't kill the low end grunt. I got them in a package deal that included a pair of 26x12-12's for the back of my JD 400 snowblower tractor. All 4 tires are like new and the price was irresistible (buy 1 get 3 free). If the 10 inchers won't work on my cart that's fine, I'll just put them on something else (like my 85 year old father's pickup truck when he isn't looking, haha).

I have 33x12.50 r15s with a harbor freight clone...it works fine. It feels like it pulls better than completely stock.

Yeah if you can run 33's I should be fine with the 26's.

Changed my mind about running the 22's on the front. I'm going to put all four Mudlites on the cart. I did a mockup to check for clearances. Looks good. I extended the front axle out two inches and I'm using 4" lift blocks. Rear has 4" coil spring extensions.

Mine were actually used. If I'd paid new price they would have been as much as car tires, and not cheap ones either. I don't usually find great deals. But as my old dad likes to say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

I run Mudlites in all 4 corners. Never had an issue, although they're being turned by a 24hp v-twin. Those things would climb up (through) **** near anything. They might not be cheap, but ITP makes a solid tire.

I run 26" Mudlites on a 99 EZGo with a 24 hp Honda in it. The cart does around 33 or 34 mph on the pavement & pulls just about any hill, paved or dirt, well. I also pull a 4'x8' trailer, loaded, without a problem.

I don't think the 16 hp clone I had in my old Marathon would do nearly as well though. With 20" tires it did around 25 or 26 mph & only did OK on the hills. Obviously increasing the tire size would have increased the speed, but the torque would have suffered.

Remember to do brakes too. Those old drums are not nearly good enough.

I seriously considered a Vanny or a Honda V-twin for my Club Car project, but I really like the 13 HP clone in my EZGO so I bought one clone for the CC too. The price difference was a big factor too. It's about $1800 for a 23 HP Vanny in my area (Ontario) and I paid $299 on sale for the clone engine, which means I could have bought 6 clones for the Vanny cost. That's 78 HP in total but it would have been tricky mounting them all in my cart at the same time

The EZGO has new brake cables and the shoes/drums are excellent. It actually stops nice and straight with no fading. I don't go very fast so they should be fine for my purposes. You're right though, if I were going to be running it hard I'd want better brakes. And better suspension. And 4 pt seat belts. And a roll bar. And..

I pulled my father's Ford F350 2 miles one day last week with my clone powered EZGO. It had quit on his way home from town. The road we live on is tar and stone with a nice hard surface. I doubt the cart would have done very well on soft turf or loose gravel.
