Default EZGO Clone Swap Parts List

So before anyone gets upset and tells me to search I have searched this thread and read through it a number of times and still have questions. I am going to do a clone swap in place on a kawasaki FE250 with stock EZGO Clutch that is currently in the golf cart 2000 EZGO. It is extremely custom and runs more like a car than a golf cart. I dont have a solenoid, start/generator, it is keyed/push button start off of engine starter and a few other things. I just finished a Jakes LT kit and my next purchase is the 460 from vegas carts. Has anyone compiled a list of all the parts needed to make this go smoothly? It seems like every person does it different so there are many ways to do perform the swap. Can someone point me in the direction of a list so i can check off the parts that i will need while I order and wait for my engine? It seems like there are lots of different odds and ends that are needed.

Right now I have the following -
Vegas - Engine Mount
Vegas - Race Exhaust Pipe
ST350 - Choke, Accelerator, Shifter Cables,

Going to Purchase -
Vegas - 460 engine, Air filter, Pulse Isolator, 32mm Intake Air adapter

Suggestions would be great and I will build the list from the responses if there isnt one.

Thanks for your feedback, it will be greatly appreciated.

Default Re: EZGO Clone Swap Parts List

I just finished a similar build using a Vegas Cart EZGO kit in my 1995 Medalist.

I would suggest selling your EZGO clutch on ebay and going with the Comet clutch that VC sells, then you will not need to cut and tap the shaft on your 460. If you use your EZGO clutch you will probably end up with at least a $50 machine shop bill (unless you try this yourself) and the adapter you need for the EZGO clutch is another $40.

The 460 engine comes complete with all accessories, ie upgraded carburetor, vacuum isolator etc. I had VC install the advance Key on the flywheel, heavy duty valve springs and had the head milled, ported and polished. I kept the stock cam. I am running 100LL aviation gas so detonation wont be a problem.

I would look for a starter/generator on ebay. If you are thinking of using the clone electric starter, talk to Geoff. You might get 10 to 20 starts out of one of those and that's about it. They are very weak. Also, I don't know how much juice the stock electrical system will generate but probably not enough to charge a battery, run lights, etc. Mine starts just like the stock EZGO, turn on the key press peddle and on your way. I did install a kill switch on the dash next to the key.

My build was like most I guess. The 1st 90% went pretty fast, the last 10% took forever, as this is where you will be engineering your throttle, electrics, gas lines and returns, etc. I did not fool with a choke, The VC
clone carburetor has one, but I did not hook it up. Seems to start just fine without dealing with it. Up north in the winter maybe, but not here in Florida.

Good Luck with your build

You can put a relay on to kill it with the pedal, relay and the harness/plug are about $3 each on amazon....if your cart did not have a mag ignition to start with in that case it should have a kill wire already.

I had my header made at robertson torque tubes. Bought the car muffler off amazon as well as zinc oil additive and set of jet drills. My airbox is made from a car airbox $10 at boneyard and various pvc and radiator hose and clamps. It is piped to the front for less dust and filters are $7.
