Help with clone install G2
I am trying to put a clone motor in my G2 .I have a few questions or two
Do you use the throlle cable straight to the clone or use the one that comes off the rear end . What the best way to get vacuum to the fuel pump.I was told out of the valve cover .There is a 1/2in blow back tube in it now that goes back to the air filter ,will there be enough vacuum there? Where is the best place to get anew drive belt for i am going to need a longer one and what is the best way to determine the length |

Re: Help with clone install G2
What kind of clone? I would use a vegas cart isolator for my vacuum line. You can check out several threads on here from guys doing G2's and G9's. Mine is project meat wagon. I've got several photos posted and I'll post more tomorrow.

Re: Help with clone install G2
You should not seal that line on the cover it vents the engine, it will blow oil out other places if you let pressure develop inside the engine. You need to put a fitting in the cover than goes through the partition to the inner part. You can buy or make a pulse tap on the intake spacer but it sometimes floods the carb. I used the smaller fitting a 1/8" NPT barb fitting the hole you drill is smaller, if you put it low on the side it will go through both parts of the cover. Another clone I run an intake fitting had to run a return line as it flooded using the stock pump, it may be ok using a gokart or B&S pump they are smaller.
There are lots of 1 3/16 belt sizes available. I use the stock size on my G9/clone it depends on how you mount the engine. The speed governor is in the rear you will use that if you want governed speed, otherwise run it to the carb direct. I made a linkage to run the carb many don't. I removed the governor from the clone, it is up to you. I run some parts on it including HD springs so it can safely rev higher but I also gps it at 37.9 mph today and you may not want that. If you leave the governor on the clone you may need to adjust it to rev a little higher to get the clutches to shift all the way, stock engine can rev to near 4K rpm, and that should not hurt the clone at all as 3600 is typical governed rpm and not much less. |

Re: Help with clone install G2
Clone is a copy of a honda GX390 single 13hp, though many clones are 420 or 440cc not 390cc.
You can tap in anywhere to the inside, try to figure out a place where the oil is not squirting up at it. It usually comes up to lube the parts in there often in a hole in the center. |
