Default duromax ezgo clutching

installed duromax clone with stock 1995 ezgo clutches.
installed high torque springs on both clutches.
the problem is when you let off the gas or hit the governor limit it feels like you are slamming the brakes on.
I will eventually be removing governor but would like to get clutches working.
any advice would be appreciated. bought the clutch kit from e bay.
running 22" tires

My advice,

Put the stock driven spring back in and remove the front spring completely.

You installed an engine that is significantly more powerful than stock, the springs you installed were designed to help with the stock engine.

Stiff spring in the secondary will do that, take it out. It will do that with a stock spring the more you preload it; when you wind it up during installation if your secondary has the ability to be adjusted. It does not let it shift out. I don't know about the setup with the spring in the primary (on engine) for an ezgo. That spring typically helps it take off harder but also changes shifting.

If you put a stock spring back in an older golf cart consider buying a new one they do lose their spring over the years and don't work as well.

The ezgo clutch uses the spring in place of weights, not sure if it will work properly without one.I installed the higher engage spring after my Opposed swap, and it made takeoff very managable, also helped with low speed crawling.

I forgot to mention that I was talking about the Primary(Drive)-Clutch.
