Beautiful
The cart works wonderfully. Vc460 runs smoothly after few adjustment but now having problems with chain tensioner. The chain keeps slipping off the sprocket after i move the engine back. Its on tight but when the engine starts it seems the engine mount scoots over to where the chain losens up. I put a 1/2" bolt in to hold it in place but it only holds for little longer. How can i fix. Another problem i have with the engine is the starter stops spinning at a certain point and have to spin by hand to free the engine shaft. After a full turn the starter then is able to work freely. How do you guys with golf cart fix this problem bc aren't your engine covered up by the seats. Seems like those are the only 2 problems i have left with this build, then I'm fully Finnish. I also have all the upgrades and the flywheel plus the 330 cam on. The cam makes it super hard to start at first but after i adjust the valves its lots easier

Re: Beautiful
If it stops on compression some people put a momentary kill switch and hold it down until starter is spinning then let off and it fires. If you have big cam, advance key, cut head, light flywheel can all make issues for starting but usually it stops when it fires. You pretty much must have a cam with comp release. Also high ratio rockers make the comp release work better, if you can use those.
4 bolts should hold the engine, if its your mount add more bolts or add tabs you can put push bolts in and tap them or double nut them. |

Re: Beautiful
What size cables are to your starter, larger ones can help it get more power say 4ga should be enough.

I use outdoor extensions cables. If its good enough for ac then its good enough for dc power. Just cut ends then connect all three wires as one(ground positive and negative)

Re: Beautiful
Ac is a whole different animal vs. dc...you should use at least 4.ga cables.

Re: Beautiful
Yep,extension cord is usually 14ga,maybe 12ga.Both are way too small.Switch to a 4-6ga,and it will likely work perfectly.A starter draws more amps than your house electric-service supplies, noone thinks about that. Initial Amp-draw can be well over 200amps,then drop instantly to under 50,once its spinning. These specs may seem high, but in automotive applications they are realistic,i dont know the actual#s for a cart starter.
