Default 2006 par car P-4

ran fine parked overnight wouldn,t move the next day, flashing 4 code says
solenoid cleaned all plugins and connections ran fine again parked over night won,t move, i,m sure solenoid is bad it clicks but only get 51 volts on one side so decided to jump motor just to be sure while i was sweaty did exactly as described for regen mtr, but didn,t run, so took mtr out and checked brushes look good 1 1/2 inches no sticking no burn marks everything looks fine no shorts to case continuity where its supposed to be and none where its not supposed to be,, 2 questions can solenoid cause all of this? and can i bypass solenoid to get cart to run just to be sure, thx karly

Yes and not advised.

The contactor will fault out if the controller detects an issue. If the contactor is the issue and you bypassed it, that would be okay. But if something else is causing the issue and you bypassed the contactor, you could cause major damage, or fire or etc...

If you want to take the contactor OUT of the cart and test it, you can. With 24 volts applied to the coil, the top contacts should have continuity. (BTW, the coil itself is a 52 ohm coil on that contactor.

You've already eliminated the motor brushes too. The next thing would be the controller itself, which is not repairable. If you wanted to have the controller tested, you could remove the controller and I could run on a test bench.

the 24V contactor works with the Sevcon controller at 24/36 and 48 volts because the contactor chops the voltage. We've been with Sevcon since late 2003. I am located at the plant in Reedsburg WI. I don't believe Leesburg has a test bench to run a controller without it being installed in a vehicle, but you could always check with them.

Uses our standard Regen motor. I attached the VIN guide that goes with that vehicle so you can follow each digit and know what it means.

And no worries, about being bugged, this is what I do all day long!

What are you using for your voltmeter negative? If the solenoid is not engaged, there should be no power on the contactor post that feeds the controller. Disconnect that from the controller and remeasure the contactor. You may be looking at a bad controller.
