Default 2002 Par Car Headlights

I recently bought a 2002 Par car P4E-NEV. It is 48 volt, I installed new batteries and changed a few fuses and fixed the cart. The lights were not working because the red lead was not hooked up. I assumed it was supposed to be hooked directly to the batteries being the terminal lug was the same size as the battery terminal. Hooked it up and the lights did work but the switch remained lighted. The switch did turn the lights on and off but the lighted switch itself had constant power. I need to know where I am supposed to hook the lights too. I assume it is not directly to the batteries because you would not want constant power lighting the switch. I know just enough to get myself into trouble.

That actually sounds like the switch is bad, not how it's wired.

The lighted switch was an option. You could install a basic two terminal toggle switch.

So you think the switch is staying on constant because it is bad not wired incorrectly? I will have to hook it up again but if I remember correctly it was turning the lights on/off but always lit up. Would not think it would stay lighted all the time as it would run the battery down.

Here's wiring showing a switch hookup. 2nd page, left middle with wires number 64, 65 and 66. If 64 is unhooked then the switch light will not work.
