Installing a 46 VDC to 12VDC Power Supply
I've been monitoring my batteries and have found that the two batteries used to supply 12 VDC for the aux circuits do not reach full charge during the finishing rate charge. Ie. today all the batteries were at 8.07 V during the finishing rate except for the two used to supply the 12 V for aux use such as lights and etc. These were at 6.49V. Once that batteries rest the difference is not as great so they are reaching full charge but not desulfating. Earlier I had spoken with my tech and he mentioned that most failures occur with the two batteries that supply the accessories.
Apparently there was an optional 48 V to 12 V power supply option that was not installed on my car. There are two leads on the key switch for this options as well as a blank spot on the dash for accessories. What I would like to do is add an after market power supply rated for 30 amps and wire it in close to what Columbia would have supplied but can not find a Columbia wiring diagram for this circuit. If someone could supply that it would be greatly appreciated. Baring that, I assume the leads on the key switch are for the 48 V and the acc switch goes on the 12 V side?? Or does the acc switch also go on the 48 V side? I'm planning on using a 15 A fuse on both the 48 V and 12 V....does that sound about right? This is based on the fact that there is an existing 15 A fuse for the lights and stuff. Thanks for any advice. |
