Question 2007 Colombia Par Car Problem

Has anyone had this problem. Our cart is a 2007 Colombia Par Car Elite electric. Going down a hill I let off the gas completely. During this time it seems to run against the motor to produce some charge. Today during this time it gave a jerk and the motor kicked off line. I had to turn the key off and back on to get it to work. It did this a second time.

No problem going forward.

The jerk seemed moderate to severe. Only happened when coasting down the hill at approx. 12 to 18 miles an hour.

Thanks

Was you turtle switch in hi or low? If in low, it would kick into regen to slow it down at that speed range.

If it happens again, before resetting the key check the green LED on the controller. If it's flashing, count the flashes for me. And maybe get me the serial number of the controller too. It is on the white label near the top, will start out with 2007.... or something close to it.

Thanks for the reply.

We don't have the turtle switch. The golf cart repair shop couldn't find anything wrong with it or any codes. They said they have not heard of this. Ideas were the solenoid or key switch somehow sensing off position.

When it happens it is a very sharp jerk and possibly the tires sliding due the the motor stopping that abruptly. It kicks off line, I have to stop, reset the key switch to off and then on for it to run again.

Is it the original controller? Serial on your VIN P4SF4-4ZF0120 was 2007033260. That could most likely be the culprit as that software and hardware has had jerking issues.

The serial number you have is correct. Can the local Columbia dealer fix the problem with a software update or anything?

Thanks

No, unfortunately the controller has to be replaced.

It happened twice within 5 minutes and hasn't happened since then. So in the almost two years we have owned it that is the only time it has happened.

What are the chances of it happening again?

When it happens it feels like it can damage the motor or something. Do you think it can?

Thanks

Unlikely to damage the motor, but if it jerks like that, it could cause your axle tubes to twist loose though. We did issue a service bulletin to install an axle brace on the axle to help strengthen it. I attached the bulletin here.

Question Re: 2007 Colombia Par Car Problem

The controller gave me a code of 3 flashes. I charged the cart overnight. Started driving, did not have the peddal all the way down and I was not going top speed. Going slightly down a hill. Cart disengaged and I coasted to a stop. Lifted seat and got the code of 3 flashes.

Anyone have any ideas?
