Default Painted with rattle cans/ pro clear coat

So I painted my cc ds with black krylon (for plastic). I thought it looked good initially. And actually the black does look okay, but I wanted a clear coat to really bring out the gloss look. It didn't work. Wet sanded, buffed, It seems I've tried everything to bring out the bling in the paint with the clear gloss. So, where to go from here to get the high gloss look? Should I sand again, go buy a sprayer and try that? Or is it time to take it to a body shop. If the suggestion is to take it to a body shop, should I get them to just spray a clear coat, or am I starting over? Or can I get good results by spraying it myself? I'd rather do it myself even if I have to buy a sprayer. So far Ive got about 60-70 buck in bomb paint. Seems I at a point of no return.

if you take it to a body shop they are going to want to respray it, cause the spray can stuff is crap. when you take really good paint/clear coat and spray it over cheap spray can crap it will not hold up .the spray can stuff will lift and roll up . its just not good to do . now if u want you can always bring it to me .

You can get a good finish with some of the single stage stuff these days. I have a buddy on here that had some friends spray his cart.....it looked super nice! It was not cheap, I think the paint cost him $200 or something. But if you want a good finish, it's going to cost you. Prep work is huge, so take your time and sand in between primer coats. You want to use a filler primer that is thicker so it covers most pin holes. Your paint finish will only look as good as your prep work is.

I think the key with spraying is to get the sprayer setup properly so you don't spray too much or too little. Too much will create runs, although I've seen super shiny runny paint that looked pretty good from a distance LOL.

I'm not good enough to tell you how to do it, but I could probably get good results myself. I'd suggest going to the library and getting a book on automotive painting/body work. Get a good HVLP gun and a compressor with a water filter setup on it. Practice on some scrap first and see how it turns out.

Oh yea....spray cans suck!

yeah prep work is the biggest thing. but spend ur money on some good paint supplies. I sell automotive paint and supplies ,and I do painting on the side for friends . and I charge about 200-300 depends on how bad the body is and if I have to take it apart check out my profile I have pics of carts in there that I have over the past couple years .
