Default remounted speakers

So I'm working on redoing my dash so instead of mounting my speakers on the dash I cut holes in the motor cover on the back. Here's a pic of how they turned out. You can hear them just as good as before and there out of the weather now once I put my seat back on.

Nice install!

I thought of doing something like that between the front and rear seat on my CC,
But I keep thinking of how many rain storms I've gotten caught in,
and that's pretty much the only location I have for speakers on my cart,
yet... I keep thinking... the speakers will fill with water, how do you get the water out?
Just blast the tunes until it all bounces out?

I still don't have a stereo in my cart!

It's really not a bad place to mount them especially since you have a roof on your's. You shouldn't have to worry about the rain too much plus with the speaker covers on them not much water should get in there unless it's like buckets of water lol. I used to have mine mounted on the dash and they've been thru a lot and still work pretty well. U can always make some kind of cover to protect them too?

GMCMAN,
I like the speaker install you've done! I went back and forth about where to put mine. I thought about the location you used but with a gasser, It was better to keep them out of the engine room. Instead, I went to Home Depot and bought two round sprinkler valve cover boxes. Cut them with a pvc pipe cutter to fit the speakers. installed the speakers in the valve boxes, painted and used a plastic license plate holder from Tractors supply to mount them above my rear view mirror. If I had an electric, I think I would have done what you did.

That's where I have mine mounted... sounds good and water hasn't been an issue in the rain. If I have to replace them every few years then so be it.

Carolinaman,
That's a great idea to use the sprinkler valve covers !! It looks like there store bought and made to fit your cart looks perfect!!
Kerrville
I like your install too looks nice and clean!! I was thinking about adding a 2nd set to wheremy kickplate's at but i have too many wires and stuff mounted on my firewall to do it. Like you said tho they aren't hard to replace if they get wet too many times and dont work anymore. Maybe some day i'll get some nice marine speakers till then tho these ones were free so good enough for now!

Kerrville78028,

Where did you find/purchase the mount for the rear speakers?

Thanks.
