Re: Custom Rocker/Toggle Switch Panels & Placement--Pictures Please
I originally wanted to plug the rocker switches above the ignition and fuel gauge on the small faceplate like on the picture of the woodgrain dash.
I purchased the titanium dash cover hoping it would match the silver but it is more carbon fiber color so I am going to paint it to match. The issue is that the cupholder has to be in place before installing the dash cover. So I wouldn't know how to run the wires.....other than running a lot of slack after making the knock outs but then I would need to cut the slack and plug the rockers....but then I wouldn't ever be able to remove the dash a cover/cupholder....unless I am not thinking clearly. Plus I was messing around with placement. I really don't like them on top of the cupholders. And the strip I made for the overhead shelf is okay...except it kills the point of the shelf with all the wiring/housings taking up the shelf space. Still trying to brainstorm a bit....:-) |

I love playing with and making switch panels OK if your going to pant your dash to match any ways what about using and under dash radio mount and make switch panel to go in that it won't be in way of your over head shelf and should make wiring underneath easy. Give me a few I'll see if I can find the mount so you can have an idea

That could work beneath the dash. If I used it under the overhead shelf it would stick out to far and interfere with forward LOS.
I need to measure the portion below the dash where ignition and fuel gauge is.....but I would need one of those stereo mounts without the stereo panel punched out for a cleaner flush mount rocker look..... |

Or just a thought you the one with a radio punch out get a piece of plastic as a filler and apoxy it on the inside so it will cover the hole you will now have a backing now the a piece of aluminum and cut to the exact size of the radio cut out put your rocker switches through both the aluminum and the plastic and use a couple of Tex screws to hold the aluminium in place for a finished product your switch plate will look like this
