Default Stereo problems yamaha gas cart

I have a 2004 yamaha g22 gas cart and I just did a stereo in it 2 amps, 4 speakers and a sub. I used a wet sounds bluetooth controller for a head unit, everything works fine when the cart is not running and as soon as I start driving I get a really bad engine whine in the speakers and my sub amp powers down almost like it is getting too much voltage. I am new to the golf cart world and I am just curious what the problem could be. Thanks in advance

It's likely a ground loop(due to a bad ground on the amp)

I forgot to ask is the power feeds for the amp going to the battery or the starter/generator

both power and ground go straight to the battery i was playing around with it on the weekend and when the cart is running at full rpm the voltage is 17-18 volts at the battery so i am assuming that the generator is cranking out some serious power and causing the amps to go into protection mode

Try grounding to the frame? Sounds like your getting some engine interfere. If it is grounded in a remote place , this might eliminate the problem.
