Default Paint and clear coat

I painted my CC body this past weekend and I'm a little disappointed with some of the surfaces on the body, specifically the front, hood and the kick panel area.

These areas have a rough, almost sandpaper feel to them and are not as glossy as the other areas that are silky smooth and glossy. The steps I took to pain are: Wet sand with 400, 600, 2000 then spray with adhesive promoter x 3 coats, primer with filler x 3 coats, pain with Duplicolor acrylic lacquer x 3 coats then 3 coats of clear coat.

Can anyone give me some advice on this? Should I just add more coats of clear until it glosses and smooths out more or should I wet sand with a finer grit and clear coat again? Am I expecting too much out of a rattle job?

Sounds like it went on too dry. Wet sand to smooth the rough surface and respray the clear. This time spray it wet but with no runs!

That's exactly what I was thinking. From reading, looks like I might have something called "orange peel" effect from spaying too far away and the paint drying in the air before landing on the surface causing a "cat tongue" feel.

Hopefully it's only in the clear coat and not in the pain itself. I'll wet sand down today and see how it looks/feels.

Do you think 800 grit paper is fine enough or should I go with something finer?

800 paper wet should be fine.

Last night I decided to wet sand, very lightly, using 600 grit instead of 800because the orange peel was a little worse than I thought.

Feels silky smooth now

I'll finish sanding up the front cowl this afternoon and my clear coat should be here by tomorrow. I'll lay it on wetter and hopefully be done. I'll post up pictures in a build thread once I'm done.
