Default Combine Gas & Elec carts for 6 wheel hybrid?

I've been searching the forums and haven't managed to find any threads yet so time to post and get feedback or links from you cats.

I am currently working on two carts, I have an 88 gas DS, which I have had since I was 12, (25 years now), and an 03 DS Electric. My family is moving back to England in about a year, so I decided to beef up a cart to take with me, possibly getting it registered so I can cruise around the local shops and such. I have been torn with the noise of a big block likely being an annoyance to some versus not wanting to give up my buggy, that, well, I have so long, learned to drive in, lost my virginity in and have survived having it airborne, twice. So I decided to pick up an electric as well, do frame up builds on both, and make the decision as which to take.

Then I got to thinking. Then I smoked a doobie and thought a little more. And now I am wondering if anyone has already done, or has any thoughts on, chopping the back half of the electric and creating a six wheel cart with the options for both gas and electric.

My goal, if the initial build is feasible, would be to expand it more in areas such as having the generator charge the electric batteries while running, also plan to add some solar panels on the roof, along with the usual brush guards, nerf bars, possible a cage ect.

But I won't head to far down that road until I hear some input on the feasibility of combining both frames to make a hybrid cart. Sooo....
Thoughts, ideas, boos, yays, cheers or jeers? Please give me any thoughts ya'll might have.

Oh well....I tried to embed the video here....no luck. Click this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcWXzXjMi3k and with any luck, you should get to the EZ-GO Exceed Hybrid model they either were going to come out with....or did come out with. That may help you in your thinking "department."

Much appreciated, Dave! Maybe I can find some wiring diagrams or engineering schematics for those to pull some notes from... my line of work gives me access to manuals and schematics for almost any medical device, unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any known medical uses for golf carts yet so I will have to find another place to pull them from.

For more info on what I am looking to do on power, on the gas side I am looking at the clone from Vegas Carts, need to call them to get some input on if their engine would have the torque to get a double *** cart going out of the gate... such a good vendor, I called a few weeks back outside of biz hours, didn't get anyone on the line and didn't leave a message, still got a call back about 30 minutes. You don't get many vendors like that these days.

Moving on to the electric side, leaning toward the Assassin from Plum Quick but I have some education gaps to close before then before making final decisions there.

Also, question on lift and suspension. Is there any positive or negative to the long travel on the street? This cart won't see much, if any off road use, but I am still leaning to the long travel side. Mainly because I just dig the look, but I am going to be widening the wheelbase as well and would prefer to accomplish as much of that as possible with suspension over spacers. But if there is some substantial loss in handling/ride quality ect when opting for long travel for on road use, then I will happily look to other options, possibly the All Sports Super Sport kit.

Any pics from the backside? My wife gets mad when I ask that but hopefully you won't. Definitely getting warmer, looks a bit like a predator running a battery buggy out of town though.

I'm thinking it can work along the lines of a stretch. Shouldn't be too hard to put a switch inline somewhere to swap between gas and electric. Will have to figure out a way to share the accelerator... first thought was to just run a secondary cable from the engine's throttle cable to the controller, but I'm not too savvy in the combustion engine world so I don't know if the engine would appreciate the throttle being pumped all the time without it running, any feedback there? Would it keep the engine flooded or no issue? If so, any ideas on how to run both systems off the single pedal? Obviously could stick a second pedal in or a maybe a lever style throttle, but not what I'm shooting for if I can get around it.

Slightly off topic question, ballpark fair price/going rate for a running engine pulled from an 88 DS?

And I have four for you... Four wheel disc brakes. That's what I'm thinking I will end up going with. Have also considered doing the front with the Jake's LT and disc combo and keeping drums on the back. My pull is toward 4 wheel disc, and lets face it, after I add up the receipts at the end of all this, a couple hundred extra wampum isn't going to make much of a difference. It's all toys getting funded with toys anyway, got into building black rifles back in my Army days, got out in '04 and a buddy got me into big bore rifles and handguns, so I had a cabinet full of AR's that I just don't get to psyched to pinch off lead with anymore, and big bores that cost too **** much to pull the trigger on very often, none of them would be able to hop the pond to Jolly Old England anyway, so I decided to sell off what I don't carry and use some of the proceeds to get a little nutty on a buggy that does get to make the move with me. My wife and some English friends pointed out that not many people drive golf carts around in England and I would stand out... I pointed out to them that there is zero chance of this redneck blending in around those parts anyway. So if any of you decide to visit the queen down the road and happen to see someone drive by on a six wheel buggy wearing crocs, say hi and have pint with me.

The lawn style carbs have no accelerator pump, so technically you can pump the throttle all day with no effect on a non running engine.

VC460 has good power, also will rev for better top speeds. I assume you want to add the electric axle out back? You may have to work on the gas axle having neutral for electric mode, as the CVT belt will not want to free wheel. Many carts you can shift to neutral but the shifters don't have a detent to keep it there. This is why some hybrids are an electric drive with a gas generator lol.

My first thought is put a alternator on the starter belt, you can get a lot of power from a car/truck alternator in 12v, say 150A. You would have to figure the logistics of getting that to the batteries in 48v or whatever you run, to charge them.

Thanks, Sho! Good info, will have to study up a bit on the carbs you speak of as that would really make life easy if it can be pumped while running electric without any flooding issues.

Will look further at the neutral issue, hoping it won't be one as my gas cart does well when in neutral, we have towed it several times in N and when I was young I would kick it in neutral going down a big hill in the neighborhood to get more speed. Never had it pop out of neutral but could rig up a little locking mechanism.
