Default Quick Connect for winch

So leaving on the beach kills connections of any kind waterproof heat shrink connections do not work either so I got this Brainiac idea we are going to try plugins off of my extension cords and see how long this works.

This is a picture with everything cleaned up.
Now we will see how long these last...

I forgot to explain the reason for doing this, I basically mounted a winch to a 2" inch male receiver hitch, so to me it is now mobile,
front or back for the cart,
I also have a receiver hitch welded to the front of the trailer, case of any mishaps..

There is no power to the receiver on the trailer, will have to make a plug with alligator clips. I have an awesome battery jump box,to fire up the winch,
Wich works really well for mobile 12 volts....

Unfortunately that's the cost of doing business when you live at the beach. Which is the reason my inlaws stopped buying nice stainless grills at their place and now get a cheapo grill every year.

I wonder if you would have better luck with a trolling motor plug? They are water tight on the wire side at least. With caps when disconnected. Dielectric grease on the actual plug may help too.

Sorry to be the "bad news" guy.... You need to FIX THIS QUICKLY !!!

Those "plug ends" you are using are only rated for 15 amps.... regardless of the voltage carried, "amps is amps"... they will get VERY hot and the yellow plastic will begin to deform quickly....

A short between the 2 conductors is what battery explosions are made of....

Please change this set up to something more "high amperage DC" ....

You will need to determine the current demand of the winch first...

Got my last connections from "west marine" used Dielectric Grease, salt air and sand killed my last connections.
I am a carpenter, not a electrician, hangs head in shame....amps, ohms, voltage, and how you get those numbers escape me.

The wires are pretty thick, maybe 10 gauge.
If somebody could post a picture of what I actually need, and wear to get them, would greatly appreciated.

Anderson sb50 plugs should be enough for that winch.

These are what I had on there, with dielectric grease, and with in a month the will be corroded.

Bummer...

There should be a data plate or label on the winch with the numbers you're looking for. If it's unreadable, you can get the specs from Harbor Freight's site.

Just checked the manual at HF. It says "up to 132 amps @ 12 volts".
