Default Tow Behind Seating

This Saturday the wife and I make our first run to a golf cart boneyard. She has this idea she wants to ride around with the female half of some of our neighbors who are golf cart challenged in a golf cart looking trailer. We have a bed on our 96 TXT that we use a lot, and she gets car sick if she rides backwards so.....

I found one thread here by sharun10 who had started on a similar project but never posted any final pics.
Golf Cart Trailer

Looking for comments, observations, and tips from experienced cart folks on how to pick the right one. The optimum would be a TXT so the bodies are the same, but it doesn't have to be. Mainly looking for thoughts from guys who have CC or Yamahas on what to look out for.

1. With a TXT I can use the steer axle in the rear bu welding tabs to the axle for each spindle tie rod stub to bolt to after aligning everything straight, then set it up for use under the rear springs and lift as high as necessary to match our cart.

2. If I have to use the drive axle, EZ/Yam/CC, how far do I need to go removing parts to keep the reciprocating drag to a minimum? Remove the driven pulley for sure but split the cases and pull gears? Is an electric rear easier to strip down this far?

3. She wants to keep the front cowl to allow a full top with struts and windshield. Also for places to put the ladies' "stuff" they invariably leave in a cart. That is going to add weight compared to some I have seen photos of but we will just have to see how it goes.

Buy her a second cart. It will be cheaper in the long run and you can resell it when your done with it

this will work if you get the whole cart ... you can match it to your TXT cart

get an electric TXT and strip the guts .. pull the steering joint or cut the steering column low and brake cables
(you could remove the pedals if you want) ... put a cooler under the seat !!!
take off motor it will roll freely
if it has lights you can wire a hitch plug to it
the stock dash and cup holders would be for ladies' "stuff"
i myself would add grab bars

Definitely need the tow bar then. They plan on sipping champipple from Mason jars while they ride. In Missouri the passengers can have open containers, just not the driver. But we will be mostly on rural 35mph paved roads and gravel roads. With my stock Robin engine the speeds won't be such they would get more than a rash if they fall out. Duct tape will solve that problem too.

The rolling stock carts this cart salvage yard has are selling for $150. Pretty cheap.

Yeah, I will have to make a custom dash tray to fit their beverage containers. Had to buy a used acrylic one to fit the Ozark Trail stainless can coolers on the TXT.

No rear seat on the trailer. We just remodeled our kitchen, removing the kitchen counter bar top. She was hinting that the old bar top could be mounted behind the trailer seating. So they have a place to put the margarita machine when we stop. Its not all about drinking though. The underseat area will be storage for vegetable and cheese/sausage trays, napkins, tablecloth, etc. She goes in style or not at all.

Am I worried about weight? No. More justification to get a VXR460 or 22hp v-twin.

yep ... take out the batteries and stuff then put 3/4" marine board in ... you will have lots of room
weight? a striped down cart about 500 lbs

always blame her for the justification to get a VXR460 or 22hp v-twin.

Yup, haven't even bought the junk cart yet and already browsing the v-twin options on the web. That Lifan electric start model looks pretty good at $699 but it is only a 3amp alternator that I saw. Wish I could figure out how to mount it without spending $250 for a VC mount and $100 SG bracket. I will definitely need the 780 clutch.
