Project soft top has begun.
I want a drop top for two reasons first to make roof lower at will to stow in my toy hauler and because it’s different.
So I ordered a 4 bow Bimini top that was 8ft by 54” or so. I figured I only need 3 bows so I had a spare just in case of design flaw. First order of the day is to make it narrower. These bows are put together with pop rivets so drill, cut, redrill and pop rivet. Pretty much a no brained so this part suits me just perfectly. More as we progress, or digress as the case may be. |

Re: Project soft top has begun.
Sorry everyone I have been busy with property purchase/renovations and such. Its time to rethink January. Yea I won't do any work till after christmas but I need to gather parts and such.
I think I want a roll bar style main bow just like my jeeps have. But at the same time Im gonna post about street legal issues as Im now thinking I want a plated vehicle too. This might lead to some flavor of a Jakes style Baja door kit too. |

Re: Project soft top has begun.
I have thought about doing this. Seems to me I saw bimini tops that were already the right width.

Re: Project soft top has begun.
Im looking at perhaps doing all new uprights like the Jake baja kits since I want a little ROPS. I don't plan on flipping it but if it becomes street legal any protection is better than none.

Re: Project soft top has begun.
The baja cage is not ROPS certified. It's considered an "upper brush guard" not a roll cage.
