Lightbulb OK, so I was bored.

I'm always putzing around thinking up new ways to do stuff, and more often then not being an idiot, but this might just have merit.

Thinking about being out on the north forty doing some minor work on something. Or out flying one of my r/c planes and needing to charge the batteries with a charger (or some other piece of equipment)that runs off 110 volts. Well there aren't many outlets in the middle of a field so what to do?

Add an inverter. This ones a 1500 watt unit, and sits nicely between the seat and box on my gas engine 02 TXT. The inverter when not in use is simply covered by a clear plastic flap (old piece of floor carpet runner)held in place on one side by velcro, and just tucks in under the box on the other.

Inverter is bolted to the plastic body cover with a pair of holes drilled for the cables to run through.

And yes it's done well sitting out in the rain or even wash jobs or even morning condensation protected by the cover. Cables run directly to the battery, in my case I've changed over to a deep cycle unit so running it down and recharging is no problem.

Now I'm good to go if I need to run a charger, drill, saw, cooler, coffee maker, etc.

Oh and his unit has an alarm if volts are getting too low, so I can still start up the cart and get back home.

The alarm is built into the inverter.

I do this at work with a chopsaw or grinder at the steel rack to cut steel. Beats carrying a set of bottles. Theres threads on here somewhere.
