Any examples of modified trailers for cart hauling?
Forgive me if this is an easily searched topic. I spent a little time poking around but didn't find much in the way of haulers.
I have a 2012 CC Precedent and am interested in upgrading to a long travel lift kit. I believe this will make my overall width 60". My current trailer is heavy duty foldable Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer. I would like to make my trailer deck at least >60" but want it to be safe and sturdy. Just looking for examples. Thanks. |

I tried posting this in the design forum. I'm not sure how it ended up here.
I tried editing and moving but couldn't figure it out. |

Re: Any examples of modified trailers for cart hauling?
Years ago I made a single axle 6x10 with a long mesh gate/ramp thing that utilized the Gorilla Lift tension system to make the gate a one hand lift... But then I stumbled across an old Uhaul tilt trailer has been perfect for the job. It was originally a trencher trailer
It has 2 fullsize truck tires on a drop (center) axle and a real low bed that tilts for loading. It ain't much to look at but it is the bomb to work with. One person can push a dead cart up on it. I extended the bed behind to get the rear wheels on before it started tilting. I extended the front to create a wheel cradle for the front tires when loaded. I would start cruising CL for tilt trailers to work with |

Might be cheaper/simpler and definitely safer to sell it and buy a bigger one. I would stay far away from anything that "folds". These carts are tail heavy, watch your axle placement or you might have to load it backwards.
