Rear disc brakes
Has anybody tried these guy's out for the brakes they have. I want a set of disc brakes for the Woodie and these look promising, I plan to call them today and speak to them about my brakes and if they will sell the rear brakes only for now.
If you have used them let me know what you think of the product. http://www.minichopperssocal.com/DISC-BRAKES |

Re: Rear disc brakes
We used to sell these kits in 2 and 4 wheel versions under the Wheelsca name.
Pretty good kits, cheap master cylinder but it works if care is taken during the install to insure a straight stroke. I have a 10 yr old set on my workhorse. Replaced the master cylinder after I let it sit one season. Everything else is holding up well. |

Re: Rear disc brakes
If your interested in some help PM me. This is my last build - a street legal cyclecar - I call it Radical Ryder. It has 4 wheel disc brakes with a mechanical parking brake. All parts are WilWood including the tandem master cylinder. This is my second 4 wheel disc brake setup I've done.

Re: Rear disc brakes
Wilwood was the brand I replace mine with. The thing you need from Wheelsca is the hubs, the rest of it could be outsourced if you were inclined. Overall he made a nice kit. We sold many kits and had very little trouble beyond the install which was over the heads of 90% of the BGW members.

Re: Rear disc brakes
This is my first build, both of these builds are on G2 frames and running gear. The front brakes on the front of both rides are Jake's Brake kits. They use WilWood parts so I sourced my part numbers through them and then bought all my parts on ebay as they were the cheapest.

Re: Rear disc brakes
Using hydraulics brakes with stock pedal you don't need separate park brake on the calipers. It would be a added feature but not worth the extra cost to me.
In less you planned on doing some burnouts! Where you need to lock the front wheels up. Do you have a $$$ figure on what it cost you. Ball park. |

Re: Rear disc brakes
Yea that's about what I was thinking. The master I posted seems to be a nice small unit which I plan to use which will make the stock pedal work better. The setup on my gas cart is a push and it gave me a fit trying to get it right.
Thanks for the info. I have some looking to do and research. Still not sure about using the Miata brakes. I can get a full set off a junk for less than $100.00 but would need brackets and stuff to complete it. The rear end has 3" spacers on both sides to get the wheels to look right inside the fenders. The front has almost 4" spacers on each side of it. I have a newer front axle cut and clamped together but haven't started welding it yet because if I weld it like it is I will have to add the spacers to put the front disc on it. I'd like to get the disc parts and set it all up then weld it so I don't have to add anything later. |
