Grille work
I lost the original grille while down at the beach over the 4th of July while riding one night. I herd something but it was dark and I didn't see anything. I didn't realize it until a few days later when I went to load it on the trailer to carry it home. I went back down around the area I herd the noise and sure enough part of it was there. I saved as much of it as I could but it was to far gone. Half of it was missing.
I had enough to get me thinking & I started hand shaping it this morning. I made 2 of them with out any tube bender's just forming it with my hands. I have more Stainless wire ordered should be here Friday. I'll finish the other one up. I also went back by Home Depot and got another mat for the rear of the Woody it had a bad spot in it and I got it for $7.50 tax and all. I cut the bad spot out of it. |

Re: Grille work
Here is the old one. Just so you can see the differences. I like the bigger spaces between the rods. The other frame I will try to put them closer and make it like the first one.
The last picture is what was left of it when I found it. |

Re: Grille work
Looks great andy. You should replace the V8 emblem with some sort of a "72" emblem in the same type of fashion, think that would be pretty cool

Re: Grille work
I got it painted, in a few weeks I hope to have one in all stainless done. When I get back home in a few weeks I will bend one in copper using bender's then tweak it and then have my friend do it out of Stainless steel tubing.

Re: Grille work
Looks great!
Shape looks like a ‘32 Ford grille. That would have had about 42 vertical pieces in it. Probably wouldn’t look right tho’ unless it was really thin material! |
