Default Flipping Ring Gear?

I got a gas rear end off ebay a while ago and it was suposed to be an ezgo but I think it is a harley davison. The fixed sheive is facing forwards instead of sideways and I wanted to use it with a shaft drive atv motor. The atv shaft spins clockwise and the axle goes opposite. I was told by a guy that I can say I probably trust that I could just flip the carrier bearing putting the ring gear on the opposite side making it match the clockwise rotation. Anyone here of this process or should I just flip the axle and run it in reverse.
The Axle looks just like a miniture pickup Axle on the insid and outside minus the sheive. Any suggestions would great, I know there are some Gear Heads in here some where in here

If the gears are straight cut you may be able to but us it's a Ford rear you can't flip the ring gear, the pinion would not mesh. You can buy reverse cut gears for a Ford rear, they do that when they build a front axle out of a rear, that would be your only route for that setup.
