Making your own
Anybody got pics to share? Are you making your own?
I'm in the design stages of an engine cradel and 3 link rear suspension for a workhorse..... I would like to hear about, or better, yet SEE some of your designs for similar projects...... |

Re: Making your own
This was such a big hit last time I thought I would try it again....I know I'm a glutton for abuse? But, i would like some input from all of the experience available here.
I am about to build a pair of trailing arms for my workhorse rear suspension... I have a pr of suitable coil overs and a stock workhorse transaxle..... Here is what I got (in pics) anyone with any thoughts on this? |

Re: Making your own
Scotty, i'm not sure where the pics are but I remember the arms that wicked carts makes looked like a killer setup, you could dupe those out of the square tubing. the only thing i'd think about changing is to try and mount the coil-overs (they look kinda short) on an forward angle, that would give you more travel out of it. there's probably some reason why not to do it this, haven't thought about it much.

Re: Making your own
leaning the shock forward is always a better way.. they do thet on trophy tucks because of the 30" plus tavel... you most likly not see a difference on a cart...
and Scotty has seen my stuff inperson... |

Re: Making your own
Good input Guys I have a hinge point in the cradle & an 5 inch drop to allow for a small difference in length but, yeh, the trailing arms should mount within 1-2 inches of the cradle heim. I am thinking of using a square tube, the lift kit plate, and some bolts to attach to the stock workhorse shackle mount pictured below..... I just need to figure the angle and see if you guys have any more input....I really appreciate what your saying here. I know both of you have done alot of R&D on you own systems. I am not trying to copy or go into production It is all just chits and grins..... being able to say I made it myself

Re: Making your own
The trailing arms will be about 36 inches long... those shocks are the same ones used by Terra Toys for their rear long travel.. they are 16" long and look to have about 5" of travel..... I think they could be mounted anywhere along the scissoring trail arm to multiply their travel effect?
