Default Clear coat over Vinyl Decal, Good or Bad!

I want to lay clearcoat over my vinyl decal.
Is this good and is there a trick to the trade?

are we talking automotive clear here? or spay bomb clear? if automotive clear then yes you can. but i don't recommend it. i have done it before and it will last a few years and then the clear will start to fall off. far as spray bomb cheap stuff i don't know but i wouldn't. also if you don't like the stickers a wile down the road is sucks because you cant just take them off.

if you do decide to clear over the vinyl. use good automotive grade clear and spray a light coat over the vinyl and wait a few minutes. make sure the vinyl doesn't shrink and lift. if it does shrink and lift, stop peel off the vinyl. if it doesn't keep spraying light coats over the entire panel until you get your desired finish.

I agree with Tazman, one light coat to make sure all of you're edges are down, because if they arent all down the clear will get underneath the vinyl and then you are pretty much hosed.Three coats after one dusting should be plenty, todays clear coats really aren't designed for any more than that.
