Re: new idea for rollcage
A roll cage for modified carts are a great idea. The dang problem with Yami's...no main frame attatching points without major work. I think the Ezgo and Clubcar guy's have 1 up on us in this department.

Re: new idea for rollcage
I have a couple of ideas related to attaching it to the frame.
I want to do the whole cart, front to back. attach it at front with a basket going done to the front frame mount, then run a bar across the top of the dash to tie into the front mounts for the top, run a 2" wide piece of 90 degree angle iron to the rocker panels to weld the down tubes to. then weld tubes to the engine crossmember. make them slip on for the rollcage. then bolt it to the rear bumper cross member. attaching 2 sketches and a picture that is driving my idea. I think the cage came from terra Toys |

Re: new idea for rollcage
I don't think the cage in the picture is from terra toys. I remember this cage from a post awhile back. I have looked all over the site and cannot find it now. I really like the cage and wnant to contact the guy who's building them. anybody got a clue?

Re: new idea for rollcage
Maybe Mike from MMT or Randy from Wicked would have a idea. I had the pic from about 6 months ago. I think it was in the rollbars thread

Re: new idea for rollcage
I not a race car/cart builder, but would anyone want a roll cage not directly welded or mounted to the main frame?

Re: new idea for rollcage
i know we have debated this several times over the last couple of years. in the end I think anything is better than a stock roof supports.
For the cage I described I would have the rollcage attached 6 different places. front frame, top front, side rocker panels, mid seat- main frame, rear frame for a less than 1000lb cart that is never going to travel over 30mph I am thinking I could design a roll cage that could take a tip over on either side. |
