Default FREE tubing bender plans and assembly instructions!

I found this website with FREE plans and assembly directions to build your own tubing bender. http://favoriteprojects.com/how_to_b...ube_bender.htm I have a similar bender, that uses a hydraulic bottle jack, it's not fast but it works well. This bender uses the tubing dies available from Pro Tools http://www.pro-tools.com/ The plans on this site show how to build this bender:

Pro Tools also has available free plans to build their model HMP200 bender. You can make all the parts yourself or buy any parts that you don't want to make yourself from them, and assemble your bender yourself. Go to this page to get their free plans: http://www.pro-tools.com/200k.htm You have to call them and they will email you the plans. This is the bender you can build with the Pro Tools plans.

I hope this will help some of you fabricators.

Xtreme, I read thru your thread about the bender you built. GREAT job. You should sure be proud of your fab skills!

I have this bender from Allstar Performance. I wish the Pro Tools or the "build your own" would have been available to me a few years ago, or I would have learned of the EZ Bend tubing bender http://www.midamericanonline.com/tub...ers.html#popup, before I bought this one. The only dies available for mine are round tube 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 58", and 1 3/4" (I have the 1 3/4"). I would like to have a set of 1" square tube dies for mine, which are available for the Pro Tools and EZ Bend benders. The thing I really like about these vertical benders is that they don't have to be mounted to the floor or a solid bench like the Pro Tools and JD2 benders that bend horizontally (and take a lot more room to use), unless you have a hydraulic ram on them. Plus, they don't take up much space to put them away when not in use. A set of dies for mine is $249.99. For less than the price of mine and a couple additional sets of dies, I could have bought the EZ Bend bender with 4 sets of dies or the Speedway motors bender http://www.speedwaymotors.com/3rd-Ge...Set,20066.html with 5 sets of dies cheaper. The EZ Bend comes with a ram, but you need to add your own "power" for it. You can use a Porta-Power pump (which I have), an air-hydraulic pump, or an electric pump. I imagine you could just change their ram to an air-hydraulic ram (if one is available in the right size). I really like the availability of all the different dies from Pro Tools. Maybe down the road I'll have to build or buy one of the benders that will use their dies and sell mine.

Someone was selling a used Low Buck Tools bender on ebay and I was just about to buy it before the bidding went to high. It looks just like the picture you posted. I agree about the vertical benders they are great for when you dont want to bolt to the floor. Thats why I didn't go with a JD2 manual bender either.
