Pit Monkey
I thought I'd post some pics of a little fabrication project I've been working on. I needed something to drag stuff around at the track so I bought a 96 CC DS that wasn't working for a few hundred bucks. I had intended to fix it and use that, but then I decided I needed something a little more task oriented. I started drawing up a little truck I call the "Pit Monkey", and had all the complex parts laser cut. I ended up using the rear axle, upper control arms, front hubs/spindles and the rack and column from the cart. It has a 4x4 foot bed with belly storage boxes underneath, but overall length is the same as a standard cart so it doesn't take up too much space in the trailer. It's made up of as many recycled race car parts as possible to keep costs down. Power comes from a 48 volt pack of interstate batteries, an Alltrax 400 amp controler, and a D&D motor. I plan to register it as a LEV so its got lights and signals. Just for fun I put in a sattelite radio with IPOD interface also. Anyways, here are some pics.

Re: Pit Monkey
last pics
I have a bit more work done now than the pictures show, but the end is in sight. A bit more fab work to do, then it's off to powder coat, Line-X, and paint. I didn't know squat about Golf Carts or the components needed to make them go before I found this site. Thanks for all the great info. Any comments or criticism are welcome and I will update the thread as I make more progress. Dave |

Re: Pit Monkey
Thanks guys, I appreciate the positive comments. I need to get this thing done. It's too hard to concentrate with this in the shop. The thing I WANT to work on is always 10 feet away from all the stuff I HAVE to work on.
Gornoman, the GT40s are CAV kits from South Africa. We have recently become a service and assembly facility for these cars and those are the first two in the shop. There are also 2 completed cars not pictured which are pretty nice. Kinda heavy though for my tastes. |
