Air Filter Upgrade
My 94 par car was in need of an air filter. I traded a 4 wheeler even for the cart and it was missing the air filter to carb hose and the filter. For less than a new OEM air filter and hose I was able to upgrade the air filter with local found parts from the auto store and hardware store for about $25.

Re: Air Filter Upgrade
Don't know yet I have the front end apart and I am looking for replacement bushings. I would think it would have to run better than the restrictive OEM filters. I am sure it will have more suction noise but no more than the sock filter I was running before I installed this setup. Because I never had the factor filter installed I will never really know. The cart came missing the filter element and carb hose. One look at that tiny air inlet on the OEM filter can and I knew it was not for me. I picked this size filter because it has about as much surface area as my 200cc 4 wheeler had and it was only $19 at O'rileys Auto parts. Pep Boys had them for $15 but I would have had to drive to another town to pick it up.

Re: Air Filter Upgrade
Don't throw away your stock parts just yet! The less restrictive system like this without the stock airbox tend to lose performance in some vehicles. Nice work though

Re: Air Filter Upgrade
The length of the carb to filter air hose also has a lot to do with a change in performance. The type of premix and if the oil injector is still hooked up also make a differnet in performance. Due to the dumb relative theory that if you loan someone your cart that is running premix they will add straight gas to the tank and burn up your engine. For this reason I run the oil injector and add premix to the tank. The cart runs better with this setup and will not have the problem of overheating on the long rides.
After I locate those hard to find par car bronze spindle bushing and test ride it, I will update this post on the performace. I will also look at the plug to see how the fuel/oil mixture looks. My goal on the fuel/oil mixture is to have the same ratio for the golf cart, boat motor, chain saw, wife's scooter, and dirt bike. This may take a jet change but in the long run it is worth the effort to only have one fuel mix around the place. I also like to have a K&M type filter on all my stuff which will sometime have an effect on jetting. |

Re: Air Filter Upgrade
Let me correct my earlier post - Most 4 strokes do not like a less restrictive air filtering system
2 strokers are a rare item in my area, so I assume 4 cycle now... |

Re: Air Filter Upgrade
The cart is a two stroke. I would rather have a four stroke and skip the hold gas oil mix task. However I traded the cart even for a 4 wheeler and did not have to put out any money.
