Anyone want to share pictures of what you have made on a milling machine?

Re: Milling Machine
I had my eye on this old industrial milling machine but I doubt it runs. I would need a phase converter too but thats nothing. Does anybody know what the digital box is for looks like it controls the X and Y axis? That is one beastly looking machine. Is it a good brand, parts still available, price decent?

Re: Milling Machine
One thing you have to be careful about is most industrial machines are three phase. Most homes are not wired for that and it is expensive to get a converter.
Check out grizzly.com you may be able to do everything you want to do with a smaller one, and take up less room. CNCzone has lots of info on manual machines too. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/index.php? http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/index.php |

I bought a brigdeport with a J2 head (I beleive thats what it was)...I was going to convert it to CNC then found out I could have gotten a good used Brigdeport Boss (CNC) for what it cost to buy the manual bridgeport then convert it. Then you gotta learn 3D CAD and how to create machine code....not something you can just buy the thing and start making parts. |

I would go for the B/Port also. I know you can parts for that one. A good t/Mill that old is hard to come by. But you should be able to still by parts. I have a belt driven B/Port that goes back to WW2. I had it completely restored in 1998. Shut up scotty b. I can hear you laughing from here. I'm not from WW2. My mill is. |
