Default Oh gosh - silly seat question

My silly question - how is the seat supposed to be secured to the frame?

Reason I ask is that the guy who sold me this '84 Marathon had put gate hinges on the front part of the seat so it would hinge forward - thus ripping up the backrest with the gerry-rigged lock system he put on the back of the seat.

I took off the gate hinges and just slide the seat into place. Is it supposed to be fastened down? I am "duh" kinda puzzled about how to fasten it...

Thanks,

Pat

Aftermarket suppliers have kinda stopped making those and moved on to just the newer style ones .... I have some of the old style a supplier sent me by mistake... I only have the tongue part that mounts to the seat... Or i have the new style like ribby posted for the male. ( he posted old style female part) You will need to pop rivet the female part onto the body. They are about $15 a pair.
