How to remove residue from removed golf course logo decal
The golf course decal was removed from the front my 2005 EZGO TXT. You can still see the silhouette of the logo. It is not just the sticky gunk that I was able to remove from under the other decals I took off (Golf cart number, PDS stickers).
I have tried gas, bug off, wax etc. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help Z |

Are we talking about a "shadow" like when you remove a framed painting from an old wall? If so, I doubt you can make it go away as the finish was preserved under the logo while it deteriorated away from the logo. Maybe a good buffing with a machine, but be careful.

Re: How to remove residue from removed golf course logo decal
This may sound strange, but I accidentally got some tire shine on a golf cart once, tried to clean it, but no go, so put more on then rubbing compound, waxed afterwords, could hardly tell it was there. Until you paint it will always show a little.
I do not necessarily recommend this but this is what happened. |

If you are talking about the adhesive from the back of the decal you might try WD-40... works good on car bumpers so I don't see why it shouldn't work on carts. Same adhesive.

I used enamel reducer on the paint and it takes the residue right off. put small amounts on a rag and rub on the effected area. go easy and it should be fine. don't over do it it can take the paint too.

If it's residue, WD-40 or more aggressive, nail polish remover or really aggressive, acetone.
If it is a raised surface, 1500 grit wet sanding followed by 2000 grit wet sanding then power buff to perfection. |

Re: How to remove residue from removed golf course logo decal
My dad always used the old spice aftershave lotion he got for christmas every year to remove bumper sticker residue and it always worked. That is why I won't wear Old Spice if it will remove glue what does it do to your face.

"Goof off" works ok for the glue, but the "shadow" will remain............

Re: How to remove residue from removed golf course logo decal
Yes- it is more like the "shawdow", however, it is not nicer paint under as you would think. It is actually a bit muted compared to the green of the rest of the cart. There is some kind of residue there I believe.
WD-40 didn't do anything, nor did Goof Off. Next up, finger nail polish remover. I may try and shoot a pic of it tonight and post, although I will be diving into putting my back seat on which I have heard takes 3+ hours..arghhhhh |
