Default Water Transfer Printing

Hey everyone,

Well i got a difficult question for everyone, so ill see if anyone knows about this process.

Many of us probably never heard of "Water transfer printing" but for many of us we have many products that have it applied to. Things such as the dash kits and burlwood/carbon fiber accents we put on our carts are treated to this process.
Anyways, ive been doing some research in the process, and am having a hard time finding any information in regards to the chemical activator that they use, water tank temperature, and where to get all the supplies.. All that i have acheved so far is like 2-4 places that sell the water tanks but thats about it.

Anyone here know anything about where to get supplies, or more information on this coating process.

Any help would be really appreicated, i would like to start doing small water transfer printing here in Canada, and custom dip golf carts parts and such in carbon fiber, camo, and many of the other prints. Its a pretty neat process! im already doing viny cutting and signs and stuff, i just want to do different things too. Beause vinyl wrapping on complex 3d parts gets kinda hard to do.

heres a look into the process when they did it on one of occ's bikes http://turbo.discovery.com/beyond/in...eId=1370859138

what they have here is a gigantic water tank system, way too overkill for what i want to do

I saw that episode. That was the coolest thing I've ever seen. Did you try getting in touch with that company ? I loved the way the bike looked with that technique.

Yah, i just sent them an email. so we will see if they get back.. I dont know if they will because they do the process, and im sure they dont want to spread info about the "Secret behind water printing"

I think its a pretty cool process, a carbon fiber wrapped golf cart would look interesting

They also call the process Hydro Imaging

I wonder if our graphics guy, Woodie at Tar Grahics has any info, since it's sort of his field. He's on of the site sponsors here.

hey thanks for the props boo....

as for that kind of printing i have seen it done before and just like on that epasode.... it takes $$$$$$$$$$ to get in to.... you need the tanks.... the activation sprayers to spray down the right amount of activator..... so on so on..... the cost of it isn't really what the "common joe" would want to spend on having parts dipped..... yes its cool...but a lil bit of time with a heat gun and a good roll of vinyl you can do just about the exact same thing and its easer to get off at the end if ya want to change it for some reason.... print vinyl and the install time is about the same cost if not a lil less and its more durable in the long run....

just my 2 cents on it.... yeah it would be a nice addition to any shop.... but the G's it takes to get in to .... either have the cash up front or pray the bank loves ya

Ill trade a bit of my snow for some of your sand and ill throw in some ice for fun as for the summer, yah i like it, not too too hot, not too humid, and not too cold. we get max highs of around 33*c and nights are around 19-23

I just did some ice fishing today with my parents and relitives on the lake.. not too bad of a day, but the cold really gets at ya

One of these days i would like to visit the arizona, california area.. it would be a nice change.

The cold and damp really bothers me now that the years are catching me. I didn't used to notice it the way I do now, but the heat in the summer here is just unbelievable. All you can do is tough it out.. or go to the lake every chance you get, which is what we do. The only respite is the monsoon season.. but then it's so humid it's like living in Florida. But the summer is only about 4 months of the year. The rest of the time it's a great place to live. I came here from California, and for my money.. what little I have.. the standard of living here is far better.
