What year/make/model solid front axle for disk brakes?
What im trying to figure out is, What would be my best option for a SOLID front axle with disk brakes? I would prefer hydraulic disk brakes because im assuming they are a more robust setup.
Im thinking about using a solid front axle and steering parts for a custom project i have planed. One of my goals is front disk brakes. I thought of using car parts, motorcycle parts, ATV parts, and golf cart parts. Using golf cart parts looks like it would be a great solution if i can find a good hydraulic dick brake setup that would work with a solid front axle. Im trying to keep the whole project dead simple, the disk brakes actually being the most complicated part. If your wondering what my plans are, the idea is a small ridgid framed buggy powered by a Yamaha FZ600 motor. Im planing a solid rear axle, and standard white steel golf cart wheels / tires front and rear. The toughest part to figure out so far has been the steering and braking. I think a golf cart solid front axle and steering bits with an added disk brake kit would be a strong and straightforward solution. So, i appreciate your help! |

Ezgo has a fairly simple straight axle you could use. there are after-market front brakes available from different companies for that axle.

After 2001 they had rack & pinion steering bolted right on them, this may kill 2 birds with one stone for you? And if you need a lift, Jakes makes a drop spindle and disc brakes for the axle. There's a couple of options.

There was the steering change in 2001.5 but they used the same axle for decades with slight variations. ANY 1994 and up unit would be a TXT axle .. THey don't cost but $100 new or so

Any disc brake kit is gonna require 10" wheels.
