Metal cutting saws
I am thinking of buying a new metal cutting saw. I currently have a ryobi chop saw. Im thinking about getting a metal cutting band saw. Reason being is noise. A friend of mine father, grandfather, and uncle use a hand held band saw for cutting most everything. Its very quiet. Just wondering if anyone here has one and what they think.

Re: Metal cutting saws
Metal chop saw will do hearing damage... What? you say Wear hearing protection ... the horizontal band saws rock! You can find old used ones on craigslist for peanuts... everybody thinks they need one ... but few keep them in use.

Consider one you can get a stand for.

Re: Metal cutting saws
[size="7"]what??? [size="1"] lol. Is there any down side to them like the bands breaking or anything. Ive only seen them being used once or twice. If a band saw is quiet and dependable, im going to get one. Saturday night, brett was cutting some metal with mine and i walked away just to see how loud it was. Wow, that thing has to getting to the neighbors.

Re: Metal cutting saws
The Milwaukee 6236 deep cut i have and use is very good for its use. The blades hold up really well if you are careful and patient when cutting. Most will cut just about any steel and do it pretty quiet, but i love my Milwaukee 2 speed saw.Can handle up to 4 3/4'' wide pieces and the largest and hardest thing i have cut with mine so far is 4'' solid round 4140.
