Try your local steel-supplier,welding-shop,or even ask a welding-supplier.

I built mine out of regular welded seam tubing it is cheaper and easier to find. Unless you actually plan on rolling your cart it will be plenty strong enough.

I agree,we used welded-seam tubing on stock-car cages for sub-structure and braces and it held up.The welded tube will take more punishment and impact than a cart can inflict.

Just check for a steel supplier in your area. Local fab shops or a good motorcycle build shop, there are plenty down there, will have a place to start. The stuff online is twice and three times the price after shipping. You don't need DOM. The difference between it and mechanical tubing is only that the weld flash has been eliminated. There is a weld seam there, you just don't see it. mechanical is just as strong and half the price.

chevyracing turned me on to the guys. i did order my first load of tubing from them. very good prices, very friendly and knowledgeable guys. shipping from them was very fair. give them a call. shipping to you will be more than it was to me, but they were very fair and didnt mark up the shipping to much. the also shipped it to me crated and boxed.

DOM is just what it states, Drawn Over Mandrel. It is truly seamless, not welded seam. The Fab-shop I worked at sold it in all sizes from 1/4" I.D. thru 6".Also called "Bushing-Material" by some users. It is a true-sized tube, the I.D. and O.D. are accurate thru the entire length.Thats why they use it for cages, chassis, bushings and hydraulic-piping.It is consistent in wall-thickness and strength, unlike welded that is rolled and can vary.Hope this helps.

DOM is not the same as seamless tubing. It does have a weld seam. It is cold formed after the weld which takes care of the flash and work hardens the steel, changing it's properties to some extent regarding strength. But for our uses mechanical does the same job unless you need the tubing to slide inside other tubing. been working with this stuff for over 40 yrs.
