Welding the diff
Has anyone here ever welded their rear diff? I have never talked to anyone who has done this. I have only got second hand information on this subject and wonder how much it really effects handling in tight spaces. I would love to have true posi-traction on my G-9, but don't want to give up a nice handling ride just to be able to spin both the rears.

If I remember correctly, someone on B U's welded their spider gears together. Just be careful if you do anything to the rear end, they are very very expensive to replace if something gets damaged.

I don't plan on doing it for now, just wanted to see what it could improve or hurt. I'm not going to be happy until I'm cruising a 4x4.

I would say a full pos. system would be great on a straight run but probably be little hard to turn in a big turn at slow speeds: feel like it was in a bind.

The spider gears will eventually break and you won't go anywhere, seen it too many times.

Yep, I broke the spider gears in my 99 CC, then the remains went thru the high speed gears and tore them up, it was ugly, and expensive, and I was just cruzin along when they broke.
