Default I need some help from the suspension guru's

Hi Guys,
I'm just about ready to start mocking up my frame for my ParCar project and I'd like a little help coming up with some ideas for the suspension that will better keep the tires in contact with the ground for off-roading. Right now, without batteries in the cart, bwhen I step on the rear right corner of the cart, the front left tire comes up pretty easily.

The front of the cart will be getting a new IFS so I'm not to concerned about that but I'm thinking about modifying the factory rear swing arm in some way to get some better articulation out of the solid rear axle.

In the second attachment is my basic idea. Why it's a good idea or a bad idea and what additions I need to make it work is what I'd like to find out.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

The best you can do with a solid axle is create a single front swivel mount and then allow for lots of rear travel.... on my design I went with 10 inches of rear travel just because that is what I had in the front. I used trailing arms with pivoting heim joints and coil over shocks for suspension.

Oh yeah,
I should clarify that this will also be getting Imaginative Manufacturing's 4WD conversion. So clearance for the drive shaft may be an issue with certain ideas.

scottyb,
What do you think about the idea of converting the current swing arm into a sort of 4 link style deal like I have in the second attachment? May need some other reinforcment somewhere but it will keep clear of the drive shaft hopefully.

The rear links need to swivel or they will bind when the axle tilts side to side. So you need to go a lot further away from the original design than cutting it in half. I would think you need to have your imaginative drive system on hand to aid you in the mock up.

I see what you are saying. That's just a basic idea I threw out there to see if I can build off of that with some advice from you guys. I'm trying to keep as much original as possible but still get some better movement out of it.

I could cut off the frame/swing arm mounts and put one beefy centeral mount for the swing arm that swivels....would something like that work?

My 4WD system was just delivered today....

In theory, yes. You will need a way to keep the differential located so it will not wander side to side.
