Default Advice on dash and radio install

I am installing a dash cover and console in my 2003 EZGO TXT cart. The below pictures will help illustrate the questions I have for installing the radio.

The dash is a snap/screw on typ cover with a radio cut out. The radio cut out doesn't quite line up with the cut out for the original dashes insert for the golf ball holder. Has anyone installed this before and can you give me some advice on installing this without causing too much damage. I think I'll have to take my dremel tool and cut the left side of the original, but want to get some direction before I go cutting.

As for the bottom of the dash, I'm assuming I can just take a self-tapping screw and bolt through the cart floor?

Any help is appreciated.

I don't see that you have any choice )but to clearance the left side of the ball holder. After the hacking is done, I think I'd take a piece of aluminum plate and affix it over the hole. I'd then reinstall the dash cover and trace the opening with a scribe. Remove the cover again and cut the hole out of the aluminum. Mount the head unit in the plate and screw the plate to the dash and reinstall the cover (again). Might take a few tries to get the correct amount of "out hang" to flush-fit your new fascia, but it should work. I think that's what I'd do.

Thanks for the advice. Would you recommend cutting with a Dremel tool? If so, using a bit or a wheel? Where can you buy flat aluminum?

I recommend a Dremel for just about everything. A flexshaft attachment may be your best friend for the dash. I like the fiber weave wheels for cutting plastic.

Also check out any local metal shops. I found the same stuff at Lowes and other hardware stores but for a quarter of the price. Really cheap actually

and include safety glasses. Dremels tend to make chips the size of dust particles that can float around and get in your eyes. I learned the hard way.

for the bottom they sent you 2 tube spacers make sure that you use them and yes you should use self tapping screws for that if you dont use the tube spacer you will crack your new dash. and for your cutting i use a air recepical saw and cut out the left side i use those dashes they are awsome

Okay....I did not receive any spacers. Can you tell me the size of those? The dash came with only a set of keys and nothing else.

I can make the spacers....the bigger concern is it just doesn't line up well with original dash, requiring a lot of cutittingto make it fit.
