Talking restoring aluminum trim

After struggling for hours to remove dull black speckled oxidation and trial and error, i got it down pat. Clean. Then use wadding compound. Then sand off the ugly black specks using fine grit. Then polish with wadding compound. Buff. Looks brand new and shines like chrome. Quick.

that's what i used, but it would have taken years to remove the oxidation if it weren't for the fine sanding. i also tried turtle wax aluminum cleaner. spent hours to get one small area 75% clean. tried salt and vinegar (read on line)...nada...didn't do a thing. Also tried oven cleaner (read on line)...nada...only got the dirt off. It was the combo of Never Dull wadding and ultra fine sanding, then buffing....the sanding cut my time by 90% vs. compound alone. It was 320 grit...enough to sand the oxidation off, but not enough to make deep scratches that couldn't be buffed out. I'm so thrilled, I'm thinking of doing all the aluminum rails and the pontoons on my pontoon boat....NOT!!!! LOL
