Default Motor Help

I have a motor out of a late 80's model electric ez go. How do I straight wire it to make sure it works? I want to attach the motor to the lower unit of a boat motor. I have all the switches, solenoid, wiper, variable speed coils, and shifter switch. I want to use only the motor, wiper, variable speed and ignition switch for my project. The motor I have has 4 post, 2 of them are spaced pretty far apart at the end of the motor near the shaft with the brakes. The other 2 are closer together a little farther from the motor end and are aligned the same direction not running from end to end. Please help so I can get my boat running. Thank you in advance.
