Default winch mounting

Looking for ideas on how to mount a winch on the front of a TXT.I have seen the Outback brush guards but it won't work with my headlight bar.I'm not sure how strong it would be anyway, seems like the brush guard would bend.anybody have any ideas on how to mount one?

Wink Re: winch mounting

Here is how I mounted mine. Haven't tried it yet with the cart stuck but it pulled itself right up the drive hooked to the Tahoe. I welded to reece hitches together and mounted it so I can remove it if not needed.
Check here.

That's looks good,I don't think that will work on mine.my steering is mounted on my front axle.I'm going to have to mount it up higher.I may just have to change my light bar or to cut out headlights and just use a brush guard with a built in mount.I have a front bumper off of a Bad Boy Buggy I was going to try to use but it doesn't fit the shape of my TXT front cowl too good.

Talking Re: winch mounting

I went by tractor supply today and bought a front hook for the cart, just in case I do get stuck sometime.

I also found these also. Figured they would be nice for the passenger to have something to hold on to!

It seems like it would rip the front axle out from under the cart .Have you pulled anything heavy with it yet? Its a great idea if its strong enough.

Wink Re: winch mounting

Everyone is worried about the strength. There isn't any reason to be. Your front axle is what the whole cart rides on over bumps and stuff. If the springs didn't have the one bolt going through them on the axle and the backside then yea I wouldn't have mounted it here but it should do fine I hope.
But I guess I will find out if I ever need it though which I hope I never do!

I have a Terra Toys IFS on my TXT. The way it mounts is similar to the stock front suspension in that it bolts to the front spring perch on the cart frame. I mounted the winch on the IFS tubing using U-bolts. I've used the winch to pull the cart up on to a snow packed trailer, and to slide a 1200 lb firepit about 10' into place. The winch didn't have any issues doing it & the mounts haven't changed in the least.

If you mount the winch to the front axle, the forces will go thru those leaf springs to that same spring perch, which is mounted on the frame. As long as the bolts are tight on the spring itself, it seems like you should be fine.

That's how I figured it also. The springs are going to give some...sure but that would be good I think but over all should be fine. If the cart gets so bad stuck that it starts breaking stuff then I should have to redo it. It means I did it wrong the first time!
