Extended top made by joining two factory tops
Has anyone taken two factory roofs to create an 80" extended top? Anyone know how this is done, or suggestions, or anything?
I saw it on the following craigslist add: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ez-go-club-c...item56483d6a34 What do you guys think? |

I think I'd rather spend the money to buy it already done than expend the effort to plastic weld one myself. Seems like a good deal if you can pick it up. Shipping is gonna be murder, though.

Re: Extended top made by joining two factory tops
I was thinking more like bondo, rather than plastic weld. From the ebay posting it looks like they may have a metal bracket that they rivet to hold the two together.
P.S. I have checked with local dealers and to buy one is gonna be over $500, so there's no win here. If I buy local its high, if I buy online shipping is more than the roof. Looking for a better alternative. |

One of those big blow-moulded fold up tables like flea marketeers use? How about one of those?

I'd look more into custom making your own before blowing that much cash. Maybe a rectangular kiddy pool?

There was a pic posted on here last year of a cart roof made from a large clamshell cargo tote. I thought it was an awesome idea, but I'd sure want better roof struts!

Re: Extended top made by joining two factory tops
I made a roof for the cage of my cart out of something called FRP.... or fiberglass reinforced plywood. It's 3/8" thick, black fiberglass on one side, white fiiberglass on the other side, sandwiching some plywood. I think they make Uhaul truck bodies out of the stuff. I cut it to shape & painted the edge with PlastiDip.... which is a thick, rubberized spray paint. Works pretty good so far. I can stack gear on top of it, made it whatever shape I wanted it, tough as nails, etc.
Pics in the gallery below. I'll see about taking some better pics that show off the roof itself. |

Re: Extended top made by joining two factory tops
The last posted cart was the whole carrier, not just the top half. Nice setup, though!

Re: Extended top made by joining two factory tops
why not just make a roof out of 3/8 plywood in the shape and design you like than coat it in fiberglass resin!
