Default Junk yard disc brakes?

With my cart stretched and lifted, plus the added speed of 500 amps, 48v, and a 4800 rpm motor. I need to upgrade my brakes.

It got me thinking- the hubs of golf carts are the same 4x100 pattern as many popular cars like the Honda civic. If I could find a pair of disc assemblies from one in a junk yard and pair it with an ATV master cylinder, would I only need to fabricate some sort of mount for the calipers? Do the hubs bolt on?

The hubs will have to be the same axle size and width. I don't think that will be the case because of the weight and general size application. Plus you need an assembly that fits inside your wheels, so to speak.

I've been looking into doing the same thing for my cart as well. There are dozens of cars that have the same bolt pattern. I am looing at a four wheel disc system with the e-brake for the rear with a separate pedal. Just like it came in the car. You would need to go to a minumum 12" wheel and maybe 13". Just depends what size the car had on it. I'll pass along any info I find on this. I think this can be done for about $200-$300 at the most. Just depends on the junkyard prices.

Let me know what you find. I'm still a few weeks away from having the surplus cash to get new wheels, but it should be possible.

What about Club-Car Villager-8 front-drum brakes?4-wheel drums will be far better than 2-wheel!I'm thinking about looking into a set,I've gotta steal Dads Limo and measure things up.

Last week I found some info listing all the vehicles that had the 4x100 bolt pattern. IIRC there were some with 7"-7-1/2" rotors as well. I'll see if I can find that info & post it.

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][COLOR="Blue"]Here is a link for some 4x100 fitments. Not the one I was looking for but will do. I'll keep looking for the other list.

Don't forget that your MC needs to have enough pushrod travel to pressurize the front pistons and rear wheel cylinders. A common atv unit probably is not going to be able to do that without pumping.
