amber top light.... simple install but having trouble with it..
okay an amber strobe for the top of the cart should be the easiest install EVER... but i'm having difficulties with this LED strobe my wife bought for the cart.....
i've wired it to every power source i can find with the same results.... the results are... it works fine when the carts motor isn't running... but soon as the motor cranks up the light barely flashes.... the cart is an 84 2 stroke... the battery is brand new it's a valuecraft 51R-VL automotive battery. there's aftermarket headlights/taillights on the cart and they work EXCELLENT... i've tried grounding the strobe to the same spot as the taillights and having the power source from the headlight powersource wire... same result.. headlights work fine but the dang strobe does not. it barely flickers at all. i've tried directly to the battery with no switch just to see what happens... same thing.... i'm stumped with it.. maybe just a bad strobe light? but i have no idea. i've tried to the solinoid, headlights, battery itself, fwd/reverse control panel power source, ignition, etc.. same thing you would think it'd look like this: |

My guess (yes guess) is your light is an LED and may require some resistor to work properly? Of course I have no practicle experience with this but others here have. Where are they now?

could be man... the LED lights in the housing are all made in one bulb it looks like. brb gonna look and see if there are resistors in there anywhere.. i thought there should be made into the light itself. it came with a cig. plug... cut that off and it's a two wire install.

it's odd... you'd think the headlights/taillights would dim before the LEDs would... it's like when the motor's running all the power is sucked from the LEDs but the rest is fine... just strange to me

Have you tried it on the headlight-taillight switch?

Try it hooked up to your car see what happens, My guess is it may draw more power than your cart produces and acting as a short, try an additional resistor inline could be acting as a short, so try resistor on pos then neg.

Is it a strobe light or a led light? THey are not the same. A strobe light will act erratic if it is not getting enough current or a bad ground.
Is the wire actually red & black or both black with a line or ribs on one? |
