Default Diamondplate cargo box material thickness

I'm going to build an aluminum diamondplate cargo box for the back of my Club Car. Anyone know the thickness of aluminum that is commonly used for them?
It will be tig welded.

Thanks

I would assume 1/8". 1/16" probibly wouldnt hold shape well and warp pretty bad while welding.

Diamond-Plate is measured at the flat,so 1/8" is 1/8" in Diamond-Plate,but its' between 3/16" and 1/4" at the diamonds, depending on the material and diamond-style.1/8" (11ga.) is plenty for a dump-box.You can go a little lighter,if using Diamond-Plate(Alum. or Steel),usually you can drop 1-size,so you could drop to 12ga. or 14ga.To prevent warping, always move around, instead of running a continuous-bead.With Tig,and also Aluminum,Warping is alot less of a concern.Hope this helps.

sweet i was gonna get in and say what he^^^^^ said..1/8th diamond plate is measured on the thin part and i would go with 1/8th inch myself as i made a few boxes for myself from the thinner d.plate and there a lil weak..the ones i made from 1/8th inch have a lid,and i stand on them all the time

Thanks guys. It won't be right away, but I'll post some pics when I make it.
