What Quick Release Fasteners to Use for Top Frame?
I just got my cart last week. I chopped the top for the look. Also I did it to fit the cart in my enclosed trailer for transporting.
After using it this weekend I thot it would be good to have the top height adjustable. Any ideas on quick release fasteners? I'm thinking of something along the line of this: Or: Or: I would like to have my tubing that holds the top be able to raise and lower - similar to the tubing on like a 10x10 pop up awining your might use for tailgating, etc. Those have 1 piece of tubing that slides into the bigger piece of tubing and holes with a little spring loaded ball that pops into the hole when the desired height is selected. I will be fabricating the entire frame and top so I'm not limited to the factory materials for the old top. One of my concerns is that the frame may rattle or squeak doing something like this. Anybody have a good suggestion? Many thanks. |

I plan on taking about 6" out of my stock roof supports.. If you were to go with adjustable roof supports I think it would squeak and creak. My roof made a lot of creaking noise until I put rubber washers in between all the bolts where it mounts.

I cut my top 9 1/2" in the front and close to 4" in the back. I still have about 1 1/2" head clearance. It has a nice raked look with the top of the 92 Club Car. Mine was higher in the front than the back and it has those raised sections that go up higher in the back so I had to cut 3 times to keep going lower in the front to get the look. Im contemplating what to do. A good solution to an adjustable height top would be great IMO. The squeaking isnt something that would be acceptable - it would drive me nuts. |

Only thing I could say is get some bushings where it slides and make it a tight fit. When I bought my cart it was stock and the roof squeaked and it does drive a guy nuts.

How about trying something like a Bicycle Quick Release? It would hold the tention, and hopefully eliminate any rattling, or squeeking?

Maybe I'll go by a bike shop and check some out when I get the chance. |
