Default Front Disc Brakes

Since installing the big block motor, I'm looking to design front disc brakes for my Marathon. I believe I have a good design idea, just not sure about the calipers. Has anyone seen a setup on a golf cart that uses this style mechanical caliper? They were used for years on snowmobiles, and are commonly found on racing go-carts.

I have worked with those calipers in the past and am not impressed with them, but for the needs of a cart they are probably a good application.
It would be nicer if there was a way to choose a different cable pull since that may prove to be restrictive when it comes to mounting positions.

What didn't you like about them? I can get others that have different cam brackets.

Allot of flex in the housing. The pads taper wear real bad.
The other is the position of the arm, it does not allow for easy bracketry for the cable anchor. Obviously the arm can be cut & welded as needed but then the plating is lost.

About the only time I see these calipers being use lately are for parking brakes where the short comings are not an issue.

On my cart I want to look into ATV brake parts, probably go with hydraulic since work needs to be done at the pedal end anyway.

There are better cable calipers out there from the older sleds, I am far from an authority on them though.

I've seen the mechanical disc brake set up for golf carts on e-bay in the $190 range.

The ones I have seen are for the rear. I have not seen any for the front.
