Battery Life Saver test
as some of you know i am going to be installing a BLS system, Battery Life Saver, on my cart for testing and evaluation
i received the BLS from BatteyZombie for this test with the understanding i would give an unbiased opinion of the results so here we go ... the BLS i got was the BLS36A, for 36v carts that are charged often, the BLS36N has an automatic low voltage cut off for carts that are not used daily all BLS systems use power form the battery pack to work , the 36a comes with an on/off switch if desired to cut power to the unit here is what i got BLS36A retail $139 WHATS IN THE BOX BLS36a unit on/off switch 12 page owners manual BLS sticker BLS36A comes per-wired with 36" of red and black wire and 5/8" ring connectors switch is heavy duty on/off so now its time to install it but first i am going to get readings from cart and post them as a starting point we are in a rain delay |

Re: Battery Life Saver test
. . . are you starting with "good" batteries or trying to rejuvenate "marginal" batteries that BLS claims it can bring back to 100%?

Re: Battery Life Saver test
i would say they are "good" ...the 38.2 reading is at 100% charge and the Specific Gravity of 1.275 is good also -- i have good run times and GPS @ 11.5mph on flat smooth road

Re: Battery Life Saver test
I posted this in another string and moved it here after ordering the BLS 48N:
I will install this unit and track the results over time as well. After reading this thread and with the camping season finally upon us I decided it was time to do a good check of the batteries on the cart we bought last fall, here is the disturbing data I found. 06 Precedent hooked to a Power Drive 2 charger most all winter. Checked water levels every 6 weeks but did not have a volt meter hooked up. Voltage checked from the Red ( positive ) and Black with White strip wire that would go to a volt meter. First it seems odd to me that I read 35.2 VDC (prior to switching the run tow switch to run). Switched to run I read 49.7 VDC I cleaned all the cables and restarted the charger. After the charger shut off with no bleed down time of the float voltage was at 51.2 ,After 12 hrs 50.4 Here are the individual battery readings and hydrometer cell readings prior to restarting the charger. 5/12/2013 Bat #1 12.51 VDC cells 1.250 1.260 1.275 1.276 1.250 1.200 Bat #2 12.69 VDC cells 1.260 1.250 1.262 1.262 1.275 1.280 Bat #3 12.52 VDC cells 1.280 1.280 1.270 1.275 1.200 1.200 Bat #4 12.58 VDC cells 1.300 1.270 1.230 1.270 1.250 1.175 So I am assuming that these batteries are not the good batteries that the seller claimed they were. With these reading however what could I try to do to get some use out of these until such time as I can afford to replace them. Ordered BLS-48N 5/13/2013 |
