Default Can you help build a sick cart?

Ok heres the deal.

I was heavy into drag racing. (topsportsmen) I sold my car....blah blah... We went camping with some friends and I buy a beach house for my wife while I am there. So there goes my race car for a year or two. The deal I made was I buy the beach house.... but I can build one of these cool carts I see riding around. SHE AGREED!!! So I have been reading around for about a month now and can across your active forum and thought it would be cool to get advise from you all and keep a thread going and updated with photos of my build.

I am used to some nice toys, So I want to build a REALLY nice cart. There are about 6000 carts in a closed gate place I am at. Some of these carts are really nice, Painted lifted and all that.... I want the nicest one. They have cart races...pulls and shows.

My Vision so far. 96 Club Car 48/ volt ELETRIC

The cart will be lifted. (6-8 inch)

Tires to be chosen later. I am thinking something like super swampers

chrome or billet rims.

Front end full indpendant ( long reach a-arm kit )

full indapendant rear axle. I hope to buy a wrecked 4 wheeler and convert (fab) the rear suspension into the cart. I am really thinking of using the front end also. I am thinking I can turn the old carts rear axle cut down and mount this front to back in the cart and run the two front and rear axles as in 4 wheel drive.

Drive line.
I plan to run the drive line threw a gear box of some sort. I would like this to be a high/low. Maybe off of a 4-wheeler or tractor?? Maybe has to be fabed?

( I own a large repair shop with welders and painters, I am also partners in a machine, weld shop. So some of these things will not be hard to get done. )

Motor....

I want the badest I can get! So far this is the one I am looking at.

Paint is going to be chosen later. All I know so far is Sherwin Williams agreed to use the house of colors on it and paint it for free. ( love favors)

The dash and trim....etc. Would like to stick with Stanless and carbon fiber.

Lights- Has to have all lights and turn signals, rear brake lights. I will keep the front head lights but add to them. I am thinking LED all the way around?

I am thinking a full tubed roll cage? This is so I can fab a removable custom hard top for it. ( Hot at the beach )

Ofcourse this cart will have all the cool little add ons, Big radio system, molded in speakers,I will try for a build in molded in rear under the seat cooler. Has to have a inverter 110ac. Under seat tray, A small lock box.... ETC.

I would love to hear some ideas for this. Or if one of you have done some of these mods allready.... can you share what you did with me. Including any helpfull links of trusted places out there where I should buy from.

I cant wait to start this. I hope this will start in 4 weeks. I would like to start buying this week.

Look forward to your thoughts
Thanks all

DUDE! You could paint it FOR FREE! Then shipping cost wouldn't be a problem. This could be your oppourtunity to get into the golf car painting buisness.

why not buy the 4wheel drive kit for golf carts? couple of guys have done this.

however if you are in a gated community with no off roading I cant see a reason to go 4 wheel drive. what about doing a limo cart? then you get to bring all your friends along.

As for where I'm at is not gated, but we have rules and regulations Speed Limit as #1 it's 10, (to slow for me but a rule), no tires that will harm the road (cuts out mudders), no off roading not even on own lot except for work, and anything else they decide so you might want to make for show not go. We have several members who have lifted carts and causes nothing but complaints. You might want to see what others have make yours flashier but keep the speed and power down or they can tell you, you can't operate on their streets. Just a word from my experiance with a private road community.
